Srew up

I've accidentally deleted picture while editing in hopes to make it to look better .I have no idea how to move pictures around without messing everything up and I can't spend any more time to try to figure it out :) But I really want to have picture here of my silly girl wearing dress I've made her for the first time so I'll gonna plaster it right here . It's just a blog and I'm gonna take it easy , HA!

Are you taking pictures of me again ?!

It's been a week now sense school is finally out . We've been relaxing , boys have been staying up later than on school nights after evening swims and sleeping in and I'm sure enjoying the freedom of doing what and when we want or nothing at all .Ask me about it month from now :)
Weather has been really nice and couple of days ago we spend the afternoon at the lake bathing in the sun and enjoying this glorious heat for the first time this year . Lilly loved to play in the water on the shallow lake shore and she even had a little nap which gave me a chance to finish the embroidery patch for her dress while boy's been digging in the sand and building a dam in the nearby stream.

I had to finished up this sweet dress that night! I've purchased it as a kit here way before Christmas and I wish that I took a pictures when it arrived . It came beautifully packaged and I felt like I was receiving a present for myself :)Prints of Little Red in the forest full of mushrooms are just adorable and I also love the quality of this fabric as I've never tried fabric printed by Spoonflower .I have to see yet how it withstand washing .Pattern was very easy and quick to use and I hope due to simple lines that she may be able to wear it a little longer as a top .I did not make it right away as other things were calling and I knew I had some time before summer arrives and Lilly can wear it anyway. So ; it's finished now ; just before her first birthday. I love this sweet little dress so much that I'm thinking of getting more of this cute fabric so I can make her another one when she grows out of it .

Ms.Lilly hates to take pictures ! Every time I pull out my camera out she gets very busy looking for something on the ground or she turns around and crawls away from me. I can't really bribe her with anything yet so I usually call up member(s) of my crew and ask them to do something highly entertaining so she will look up.Trouble is that boys are getting bored of it and start to complain and whine when they see camera in my hands. But at least I can bribe them :)

Sometimes I do get lucky and snap a really happy one!

Quilting...again !

This quilt was made for my oldest sons 12 birthday . I've had such a hard time finding the right fabric that would be all boy and not too childish . I was so happy when Sweetwater came up with the Pure line ... I love Moda fabrics !

I've used this pattern by Amy Smart . I've added a layer of minky fabric to the backing for an extra warmth for those cold Canadian winters and my son loves how soft it feels .

I was stitching the binding on the night before his birthday and when he was at school I washed it and wrapped it and he is sleeping underneath ever since .

I think that I have enough fabric to make a quilt for one of his brother yet and I'm gonna go with this block as It's really fun and simple block to make.

And this little girly quilt in progress just needs a binding .

There is not much time for sewing right now withh busy crawling baby in a house :)
but I've rediscovered my passion for crochet. It is such wonderful and portable craft !

I've made this sweet little dress for my baby girl a while ago and it actually fits her perfectly . Not for long as it goes with babies .
Long waited summer is finally here !

Snowed In

Christmas is less than two weeks away !

I'm running behind ... as always . It will get done so I don't freak out ( not yet )...

Gifts for special friend are send away and I so hope she'll like what I've made .

I have to make those for myself as well ... one day ...

Two of my boys were busy making these gingerbread palaces

Rest of us were busy eating it up .

There was a Lot !

Hurray for not arguing who gets what :)

Another snow day ; this is what my boys play house and trees around looked like at 4 o'clock in the afternoon .
It did not stop snowing yet !

So , I'm not expecting that kids will have school tomorrow .

They'll be occupied with snow shovels to dig us out anyway :)

Last week was pretty busy .

Monday ; my husband stayed home from work and we had a chance to do some Christmas shopping and even had a nice lunch ; it was lovely .
I've finished a short dress for Lilly ,she is about to crawl .I'm beginner knitter with doubts that I'll ever step up to advanced beginner level . This dress is far from perfect but I'm so happy it's finished and actually wearable as I want it to throw it out of the window more than once.

Tuesday I was cleaning; dejunking and small gift making...

and made a little play dough fun possible for my four year old...

Wednesday I've had check up and immunization appointment with my baby girl ( she is 16 lb already !) . When Lilly was comfortable again and asleep I've started this adorable doll.

Pattern is on this wonderful blog .

Thursday; not fun at all . My computer crashed!
I wasted up so much of my time trying to fix it , than I went for groceries so at least something gets done .On the way home from work my hubby picked up reconditioned computer for now ; so it's all good again !
Friday I was making more gifts ...

and few more commissioned pouches ...

Saturday was spend with a bit of shopping . My boys in grades 2 and 6 are building gingerbread houses at school so we need it supplies and I've got an extras so we can make one at home. They both are very exited , I'm sure they'll have a lot of fun .

Sunday ; we stayed home and just relaxed . Boys were playing good together most of the day without too many problems which is odd.
No school yesterday and today . Boys have their first snow days. My husband is off too as it is really bad ; over 120 cm of snow sense Sunday . It feels like an extra long weekend ; I love it .
We played cards and watched movies and I've made some cookie dough so I can get on with Christmas baking .
Off to another busy week....

Park Avenue

My Park Avenue quilt is finished and I’m very happy with it. I love those rich colors, lots of reds and chocolate browns .It’s been nice and refreshing to make a quilt without adding any whites. This quilt matches my living room beautifully but it is listed in my little shop for now and the deal is if it doesn’t sell till Christmas, it is mine to keep.

I’ve also made a small blanket for Lilly; I’ve bought fabric like 4 months ago and I wanted to make her a blanket with crochet edging ( what was I thinking ? ) . This material is too thick and frays quite a bit. So I’ve settled on binding in aqua with tiny white circles and I think it looks alright. Than I’ve made a headband and little friend to play along.
I found this cute Scottie dog pattern here.

Next pictures are for my Mom. She started a quilt for Lilly shortly after she was born while visiting but did not get the chance to finish it so I’ve finished the quilt and Lilly is using it for a “tummy time “ for quite a while now and I finally took some pictures for my mom to see it in all beauty . This quilt is made from Verna jelly roll .Mom took all the scraps and my girlfriend kindly donated charm pack and few fat quarters so she can make a similar quilt for her other granddaughter .This quilt is very special to me as we worked on it together , I love it very much and I hope Lilly will too .

Mami , tak tady je Verna v cely krase . Ten se nam povedl , vid !

Apron and Bibs

Last Sunday I went to fabric shop to get some flannel so I can make more bibs for my baby girl. While looking for flannel; I’ve spotted sample of what my first thought was a little dress and cupcakes. When I inspected it closer , I realized that it is an apron made from printed panel. I knew that I can’t go home without it.

I’ve had to make it as soon as I’ve got the chance (I folded mountain of laundry in record time) and even though Lilly has a quite a few months to grow into this; it feels good to be ahead of a game for once:) This was a first time I’ve tried project like this as I never even look at quilt panels and I really liked how quickly and easily this apron came together and I did not have to do too much of thinking !I still have cupcakes to make yet and I’m already imagining my little Lilly wearing this apron while baking cupcakes for her brothers together.

The bibs I’ve made are just very simple as I need a quite a few yet and immediately. But I’ve got to try my new tool! I don’t like Velcro fasteners on the bibs as those are frequently washed items and when fibers gets into a Velcro; it creates a mess. Ties are not an option for hungry and squiggly baby so I’ve been using sew on snaps to fasten the bibs and when you have to sew snaps on a few bibs at once ; it feels like a quite a chore . So I’ve ordered this neat tool and cute snaps from this wonderful seller .All arrived in no time and she kindly added a few extra snaps to practice with. The tool is great ; I’ve had snaps in place within minutes and I’ll be using snaps instead of buttons when I make dresses for Lilly as I’m not much of a seamstress and button holes are intimidating me .

I was excitedly telling my friend about my happy snapping while waiting for the school bus with our kids to arrive. Later; she brought over whole bunch of decorative snaps and other amazing goodies like 3 yards of white and royal blue minky fabric .How sweet is she?

Park Avenue quilt is almost finished; one more side to bind …
